I was very saddened to read on the Regatta Waters website that its Residents' Association has been dissolved due to a lack of interest and support.
I met with members of the committee on a few occasions and know how dedicated and enthusiatic they all were and how they shared the goal of creating a neighbourly, connected and dynamic community at Regatta Waters.
To this end they organised events (the Easter Egg Hunt in which Jane Padden was involved springs to mind) and the association also dedicated much time to many of the estate's causes such as tree planting, the watersports open day, lobbying for better garden maintenance and bus routes, children safety and security issues, upkeep of park areas, animal control, post facilities, newsletters, the website, the promotion of local businesses and of course they promoted to residents our very own Oxenford Neighbourhood Watch of which they form part.
Unfortunately there were no candidates nominated for any management committee positions at their AGM and neither at their second attempt at an EGM on 24th February. The outgoing members had to stand down as they were no longer available to dedicate the time required and so the association was closed and unincorporated.
A very sad issue indeed....
