COOMERA WATERSPORTS LAKE AND CATCHMENT STORMWATER MANAGEMENT PLAN

Council is developing the Coomera Watersports Lake and Catchment Stormwater Management Plan.

The plan is designed to assist Council to maintain the lake in a condition appropriate for a State-level rowing facility. To this end, the lake’s water must consistently be of a standard suitable for recreational activities, such as canoeing, sailing and rowing. Good water quality will also help to ensure the lake is maintained as a healthy aquatic environment, providing habitat and food for wildlife such as fish and birds.

The management plan will assess the catchment and stormwater drainage network and provide a detailed implementation plan to treat rainfall draining into the lake. Design options will be developed for the remediation of the rainfall treatment wetlands at Essen Place.

The plan will be presented to the local community prior to its completion in June 2010.

If residents would like more information about the wetlands and/or the lake’s environment, please contact Council’s Catchment Management Unit on (07) 5581 6722.
