Mrs Dominique Lummus from the Gold Coast (Oxenford - Coomera 3 NHW group) has been appointed as the Interim NHWQ Community President. Dominique’s role will involve working closely with the NHWQ State Office, sponsors and other key partners to ensure a strong community voice for NHW in Queensland.
“I really enjoy the dynamics and people-focus of Neighbourhood Watch. When information and communication between the Queensland Police, Neighbourhood Watch and residents flows and when awareness and a sense of ‘ownership’ are encouraged among residents, the result is a safer community with neighbours that are attentive, informed and involved,” Dominique Lummus says.
Dominique’s first role was to announce a new minor sponsor for NHWQ. DS Numbers join existing major sponsor, the Real Estate Institute of Queensland and minor sponsor Suncorp in working together with NHWQ volunteers to create safer and supportive communities.
Dominique welcomes DS Numbers and their contribution to NHWQ. DS Numbers were founded in Queensland in 2006 to promote and market solar powered house numbers in an attempt to ensure clear and visible building identification which is essential in emergency situations.
“DS Numbers has at its core a desire for improved community safety and the education of the public on the importance of clearly identifiable address signage. The relationship between DS Numbers and NHWQ complements each other in this key objective of community safety. We are proud to be associated with this highly esteemed community organisation,” DS Numbers Designer Nirvan Soogrim states.
Dominique can be contacted through the NHWQ State Coordinator Senior Sergeant Steve Batterham on 07 3234 2105 or batterham.stephenr@police.qld.gov.au.
