During the four month operation police extended their investigation to burglaries committed within the Gold Coast, Logan, Ipswich, Wynnum, Oxley and South Brisbane areas.
Police allege the operation not only led to the arrest of those who had committed the burglaries but also those responsible for receiving and distributing the stolen property.
The closure of the operation on October 14 led to the recovery of substantial amount of property including flat screen televisions, laptop computers, phones, watches, surround sound systems etc.
“While it is not unusual for police to find pillowcases used by burglars to collect and carry stolen property, it was unusual for us to locate 88 mismatched pillowcases during this operation. It is hoped this may assist us in the near future to locate victims,” Detective Superintendent John Pointing State Drug and Property Crime Group said.
“The State Crime Operations Property Crime Investigation Unit are hoping that victims can identify property that has been stolen. If residents in the Oxenford, Regatta Waters or Coomera areas believe that they may have been victims, they are requested to contact the Property Crime Investigation Unit through Queensland Police Headquarters on 3364 6464.
A further media release is planned for Friday 7th November 2008. "Images are expected to be uploaded onto the Police website at http://www.police.qld.gov.au/ at the same time,” Sergeant Andrew Lake of the Oxenford Neighbourhood Watch stated.
