Of concern in March was the fact that Tasmania Police has received reports of crooks calling residents & claiming to be from NHW.The caller states that s/he is conducting a survey & asks about the homeowners’ security. I wanted very badly to inform all residents about this as quickly as possible and to say that NHW does not cold call residents about security, but had little option but to
a) Post a blog entry (but not everyone visits the blog regularly or has a PC)
b) Mention it in the April newsletter
c) Mention it at the May meeting
By which time .... it is too late and residents may have already been scammed.
To publicise information such as this latest scam, we need a few people to be on email and then let 'word-of-mouth' literally speak for us.
Therefore, we’re very keen to set up an emailing list so that residents can receive not only the latest crime stats & trends, but also be informed about good things such as the many FREE courses (including Applied First Aid, Self Defence, etc) that G.C. City Council offer to all NHW group members.
By default, all residents who receive this newsletter are members of this NHW group - regardless of whether they attend meetings or not - & as such can enrol on many free courses by simply giving their name & the name of the NHW group they belong to.
