Jeffrey Moss of Oxenford has received a rarely issued RSPCA award - 'The Humane Award' - for risking his own life during the February 2010 Coomera River area floods to save a horse.
As pontoons, debris and even containers were being swept away down the river behind Mr Moss's home, he spotted a horse in the river struggling to keep its head above water and set about a rescue.
