The Queensland Police Museum includes 25 displays describing police heritage, Queensland crimes, police investigative techniques, medals, the history of police women, operational equipment and transport, amongst others. There is also a simulated murder scene which is a popular attraction - here you can try your hand at solving this crime.
Their Research Library is home to a monograph collection, as well as archival material and images that date back to 1864. Researchers are welcome to use these research facilities, but need to contact the Museum to make an appointment.
An Education Program caters to both primary and secondary school groups and is most suited to students in years 5 - 12. Informative talks, focusing on forensic science and solving crime, are given to groups who visit on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Bookings are essential.
Education Kits are available to cater for both primary and senior groups. Each kit comes in two sections – one for the teacher that contains information about the Museum, and one for the student that contains museum activity sheets.
The Queensland Police Museum is open from 9am to 4pm Monday to Friday and 10am to 3pm on the last Sunday of the month (Feb-Nov).
