OXENFORD AND SURROUNDS CRIME STATISTICS

I have just returned from the Coomera Consultative Committee (CCC) meeting which is held every month at Coomera Police Station and is chaired by Sr Sgt Wally Siganto, the officer in charge. CCCs are established to develop synergy between police and the community in a police district,  to allow police to serve their community in an informed and co-operative way.

This evening Sr Sgt Reid tabled some local crime statistics which I thought you would find interesting.

In August 2009 there were 45 unlawful entries (burglaries). Mondays and Wednesdays were the worst days for this (but not substantially). Worst offence times were between 4am and 8am and midday to 4pm. Worst suburb was Helensvale with 13 unlawful entries - Oxenford was next with 6.

Re: Unlawful Use of Motor Vehicles - During October there have been 15 such offences - of these 6 were in Helensvale and 3 in Upper Coomera. Worst day for this was a Monday (by far) - worst time was between 4pm and 8pm. One UUMV was from Westfield Shopping Mall carpark, another from Coomera Railway Station and one from Helensvale Railway Station.

Stealing from a vehicle offences - 39 during October. Helensvale was again the worst suburb for this with 10 offences - followed by Upper Coomera with 7. Worst time was middle of the day and worst days were Friday and Sunday.

Sr Sgt Reid said that approx. 80% of these offences happened to cars that were parked in suburban streets or on driveways - so please garage your car if you can. Lock your car doors and windows and conceal SATNAVS and mobiles. Sr Sgt Reid had  recently walked around the BP petrol station car park and spotted 6 unlocked cars with a couple of these having mobiles clearly in view.
