Neighbourhood Watch (NHW) strongly supports the Queensland Government 2020 target to increase volunteering by 50%.
The term volunteer may be applied to all of us from time to time. Volunteers within NHW are those who have made the commitment to work in partnership with others to make their local NHW communities safer and more secure place to live, visit and do business.
We encourage all to play an active role in volunteering, an admirable Australian tradition, which encourages considerate and respectful behaviours through example of selfless service and kindness.
Volunteers may not be paid in a monetary sense but volunteers reap far greater rewards in friendships and experience (very true!).
Crimes and incidents that impact upon our safety can be responded to through Volunteering in NHW. Volunteering can help build self confidence and go a long way to building stronger communities.
Volunteering can be a family activity and does not have to be limited to supporting NHW.
To find out if NHW is active in your area (if you live in Oxenford it is!) contact your local Police Station. Further information on NHW can be obtained from the Queensland Police Service NHW website (http://www.police.qld.gov.au/programs/crimePrevention/nhw/innhw/).
