Police warn of Neighbourhood Watch scam

Tasmania Police has received reports of people calling residents claiming to be from Neighbourhood Watch.

The caller is aware of the names of the residents. The caller states that he/she is conducting a survey and asks about their security, specifically if they have a dog, alarm system (if working), and locks. The caller also enquires about police patrols in the area.

PLEASE NOTE : Neighbourhood Watch does not cold call residences or ring residences conducting surveys about security.

Police in Tasmania are presently investigating these reports and advise residents not to provide any personal information over the phone to unsolicited callers.
