AUGUST 2013 OXENFORD COMMUNITY NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH MEETING

Lovely to see around 40 locals attend last night's Neighbourhood Watch meeting and AGM.

Our speaker was Warren Humphries OAM the founder of the Labrador Men Shed and the new president of the Oxenford Mens Shed. If you would like to become involved in the Mens Shed – or know someone who would love taking part – come along or contact Warren Humphries by email wozza85@bigpond.com or call 0414 257441.  Our group will make a donation to the Men's Shed  as we see this as an assett to our community on many levels.

The AGM saw us elect a new Treasurer following Ron Purvis's retirement after 13 years in the role.Happily we welcomed Martin Mankowski  as our new Treasurer.  Martin is a Rotarian and already very involved in the  local community.

Also in attendance last night was our Councillor for Division 2 - William Owen Jones who brought us up to date on  issues in our locality such as the new Helensvale Library, the medical centre and McDonalds being built  next to Bunnings and the related roadworks.

The get-togethers are always followed by some social time during which people can chat with our Police Liaison Officer Sgt Andrew Lake, our Councillor and of course meet and network with each other.

Tues 12th November at 7pm is the date of our next get-together. There will also be a Community Christmas Party on Tuesday 10th December to which all residents are welcome.

The Oxenford Community Christmas Party features a trivia quiz, live entertainment and lucky door prizes.
