Oxenford Neighbourhood Watch sponsored ten Oxenford residents to attend an Apply First Aid Course - they graduated today.
We see this project as 'investing' in our community and know that the participants will feel empowered by their newly acquired skills, though we hope they never have reason to put them into practice.
Trainer Keith Taylor who volunteered his time over two days
Their trainer was Keith Taylor (pictured above) who has been a First Aid Instructor within the Queensland Ambulance Service for over 10 years. Over this time he has trained 30,000+ people in first aid, through ten different courses that he leads. Prior to this, he served in the Queensland Fire Service for 34 years, rising to the position of Acting Area Director for the Gold Coast in 1997.
Thanks to Mr Taylor, who volunteered his services as a trainer, Oxenford Neighbourhood Watch were in a position to sponsor not four (as originally budgeted for), but ten residents to complete the Queensland Ambulance Service ‘Apply First Aid’ course valued at $141.00.
Mr Taylor has great
community spirit and - put simply - is a legend.
